Patients that are in serious need of immediate medical attention will be airlifted or sent by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction or Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose.

NORWOOD FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

The Norwood Fire Protection District was established in 1939. Originally it consisted of 70 square miles around the towns of Norwood and Redvale. In 2008 the district was expanded to an area of 380 square miles. The district serves a population of approximately 2,500 in south central Montrose county and central San Miguel County. A five-member elected Board of Directors oversees the operations and budgets for the Norwood Ambulance and Norwood Fire Rescue. The dedicated 40-member, all volunteer staff serves the area with pride and distinction.
